  • 進度: Chapter 6 Linear Regression: Prediction
  • Prediction is the process of estimating scores on one variable from knowledge of scores on another variable.
  • The equation for a straight line used in prediction is y=bx+a, where b is the slope of the line and a is the Y intercept.
  • We fit the regression line to the data points in a scatterplot using the least-squares criterion, which requires the sum of (Y-y)^2 to be a minimum.
  • For the regression equation y=bx+a, b is called the regression coefficient, and a is called the regression constant.
